Recently I had the opportunity to be taught about Bessel functions in my ME 505 class by Professor CoʎoBbëB. It was an exciting topic and at the end of the lesson I asked my professor about whether the goal of what we had learned was to solve the second order differential equation. He shared that the goal was to learn about the Bessel Function which was a special function. It is a function that we know how to differentiate, integrate, and we know the history behind where it came from and how it was derived. Because we know where it came from, he said, it can be a powerful tool to help us solve second order differential equations among other things.

Just like understanding the origin of this well-defined function gives mathematicians and engineers power to solve complex problems, an understanding of our origin and the well-defined plan of our loving Heavenly Father can give us strength and power to face our challenges and solve the problems in our lives. We are each divine sons and daughters of Heavenly Parents who love us. We were sent to this earth to gain experience, develop a deeper relationship with our Heavenly Parents and our Savior, and experience joy! True joy comes as we follow the example of our Savior Jesus Christ who also came to earth and sacrificed Himself to provide a way for us to overcome death and sin and be able to grow to our full potential. As we remember who we are, we can have a hope to become like our Heavenly Parents and find the strength to turn to our Savior as we face each day. Our Savior loves us, and we can do all things through Him.
