Preparation for October 2024 General Conference

Wow, one day closer to General Conference! I enjoyed listening to President Nelson’s messages from 2019 today. They were filled with love, and I was especially touched by the message from a young girl to President Nelson on his birthday. She had challenges in her life, but she was able to find joy as she found connections with God’s prophet. 2019 was filled with invitations to prepare our homes to be sanctuaries and learn to repent and receive personal revelation. The Lord was preparing His people through His prophet for the worldwide pandemic where members would worship in their homes during many months. How blessed we are to have a prophet in our day who can help us grow our faith in Jesus Christ and prepare for unforeseen challenges ahead.
“…when Jesus asks you and me to “repent,” He is inviting us to change our mind, our knowledge, our spirit—even the way we breathe. He is asking us to change the way we love, think, serve, spend our time, treat our wives, teach our children, and even care for our bodies. Nothing is more liberating, more ennobling, or more crucial to our individual progression than is a regular, daily focus on repentance. Repentance is not an event; it is a process. It is the key to happiness and peace of mind. When coupled with faith, repentance opens our access to the power of the Atonement of Jesus Christ.” – We Can Do Better and Be Better, April 2019
“Pour out your heart to God. Ask Him if these things are true. Make time to study His words. Really study! If you truly love your family and if you desire to be exalted with them throughout eternity, pay the price now—through serious study and fervent prayer—to know these eternal truths and then to abide by them.” – “Come, Follow Me”, April 2019
“We hope and pray that each member’s home will become a true sanctuary of faith, where the Spirit of the Lord may dwell. Despite contention all around us, one’s home can become a heavenly place, where study, prayer, and faith can be merged with love. We can truly become disciples of the Lord, standing up and speaking up for Him wherever we are.” – Closing Remarks, April 2019
“I have invited the youth of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to enlist in the Lord’s youth battalion to participate in the greatest cause on earth today—the gathering of Israel. … The cause of the gathering is an essential part of helping to prepare the world and its people for the Second Coming of the Lord.” – Witnesses, Aaronic Priesthood Quorums, and Young Women Classes, October 2019
“…discover what the Holy Ghost will teach you. Your personal spiritual endeavor will bring you joy as you gain, understand, and use the power with which you have been endowed.” – Spiritual Treasures, October 2019
“… our greatest joy comes as we help our brothers and sisters, no matter where we live in this wonderful world. Giving help to others—making a conscientious effort to care about others as much as or more than we care about ourselves—is our joy. Especially, I might add, when it is not convenient and when it takes us out of our comfort zone. Living that second great commandment is the key to becoming a true disciple of Jesus Christ.” – The Second Great Commandment, October 2019
“I leave with you my love and my blessing that each of you may become happier and holier with each passing day. Meanwhile, please be assured that revelation continues in the Church and will continue under the Lord’s direction until “the purposes of God shall be accomplished, and the Great Jehovah shall say the work is done.” – Closing Remarks, October 2019
