Yesterday, I was watching a cool show called The Chosen with some friends, and in the first episode of the second season, Jesus was depicted teaching the parable about the 99 sheep and going after the one that had gone astray. Today this message stood out to me a little more strongly than before. The Savior teaches us that we should reach out to people one by one, and thinking about this parable helped clarify this principle for me. As we look for the individuals in our friendship circles, our families, or our neighborhoods that are struggling or that are losing their way, we can reach out to them individually and help them get back on their feet. This seeking one by one process is a way we can apply the Savior’s parable to find His one lost sheep and to feed His lambs. We do not have to feel overwhelmed trying to help everyone at once. We can help one by one and one at a time. During this work we might also recognize moments in which someone finds and feeds us, or we may be the sheep that we need to feed. We may need to take time to nourish ourselves in the words of Christ and find the help we need to be healthy and happy. This is a great work we can be a part of, and as we strive to follow the Savior, our joy will increase!
